Introducing British viewers to this ancient Indian sport. Series 1, organised and filmed especially for Channel 4, comes from Calcutta. The West Bengal Kabaddi Club, based in the ‘Maidan’ in the centre of Calcutta, offered its ground and facilities to host this first ever All India Kabaddi Tournament to be broadcast on British television. Teams of men and women came together for this all-India tournament from as far as Manipur in the North East to Tamil Nadu in the South. Punjab is the team to beat but West Bengal is on home turf.
